Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor who has appeared in film and television and on stage, is most well-known for portraying Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show Showtime's Soul Food. Her name is currently her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. As a child living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. Contractor was born in Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She had already experienced a lot of travel and other cultures since a young age. She went to boarding school at the age of 7 to 9 in London. Then the family relocated home to Toronto (Canada) which is where they spent her entire childhood. Contractor was a wonderful student in Toronto and educated to become a classical ballet dancer. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in arts) the student studied the theatre and dance. Contractor began her acting career at 16 after completing a total of 10 years in dance. She accepted a full-scholarship to study at the University of Toronto after graduating. The university offered her master's in theatre, as well as a double major in social and psychology. Contractor got her first part in the midst of her university year. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance in 92 performances of the play. Contractor was given the chance to enroll in Stratford's conservatory course, in which the top eight men and four women are accepted to take a crash course of 20 weeks on classical theater which she eagerly took. Contractor received a guaranteed spot for the upcoming season of productions and was offered the part in the role of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
